Freeport is known throughout the region as the place to go outlet shopping. It’s the home of world-famous retailer, L.L. Bean as well as over 170 other shops and stores. But it’s not just shopping, Freeport is a vibrant 4-season seaside community with tons of things to see and do!

There are dozens of Hotels, Inns and Bed & Breakfasts located in and around Freeport. If you get off I-95 and head north on US Route 1 through Freeport center, you’ll find most of them. You won’t find many of the major lodging chains here… the vast majority are independent establishments. What would Maine be without camping? There’s plenty of camping areas and RV parks here too! From I-95 exit 20 you’ll find Blueberry Pond, Cedar Haven, Durham, and Florida Lake Campgrounds. The Desert of Maine Campground, Flying Point and Recompounce Shore Campgrounds (exit 19) are also nearby.

Not much in the way of national chains here, but the local fare is nothing to sneeze at! And, oh what seafood! Again, if you leave I-95 at exit 17 and head north on US Route 1 you’ll pass by all kinds of fine places to grab a bite! Check out Harraseeket Lunch & Lobster Co., right on Route 1 in South Freeport. Great seafood overlooking the harbor! The Chowder Express & Sandwich Shop (Mechanic Street) has award winning New England style seafood chowder that will hit the spot!

Shopping of all kinds here! It’s really the outlet capitol of New England, with many of the national chains as well as a flurry of one-of-a-kind shops! You name it, you’ll find it. Atlantic Seal Cruises (leaving from the town wharf) has Seal Watch, Lobster Demo, Sunset, and Island Foliage cruises daily… The Desert of Maine (I-95 exit 19) is another popular attraction for the entire family.

Freeport is accessible from I-95 exits 17, 19, and 20. The Interstate runs along the western side of Freeport, and roughly parallel to US Route 1. If you travel Route 1 through Freeport, you’ll find most of the city’s attractions.
