Santee is located in one of the world’s finest and most varied sport fishing and recreation areas, the Santee-Cooper Lakes region. Santee offers plenty of southern charm yet a suprising amount of family activity year round.

The heart of commercial activity in Santee is right at I-95, exit 98. There are over 15 motels located within 1 mile of this exit. Several of the major chains ( Best Western, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Ramada, and Super 8 ) as well as a number of locally owned establishments can be found.

If you’re a camper, there are plenty of public and private camping and RV parks here too! Santee Lakes Campground (I-95, exit 102), Lake Marion Resort and Santee State Park (i-95, exit 98) are close by.

Over two dozen restaurants are located right off I-95, exit 98. Besides the fast-food chains there are a number of fine local restaurants. Jake’s Steaks & Ribs and Randazzo’s Italian & Seafood Restaurant a just two. I recommend Clark’s Family Restaurant (located at Clark’s Inn). They have excellent meals at very reasonable prices!

If you love fishing or recreational boating, you’ll be in heaven in Santee. But if that’s not your thing there’s still plenty to see and do here. For the golfer there’s Santee-Cooper Resort, Chapel Creek Plantation, Lake Marion Golf Club, and Santee-Cooper Country Club accessible from I-95, exit 98.

How about Outlet Shopping? The Santee Factory Stores (exit 98) is home to dozens of famous name outlets. If a slower pace is more your style, visit The Santee National Wildlife Refuge (I-95, exit 102). It has a foot trail and observation tower as well as a Visitor’s Center offering information and interpretive exhibits.

Fort Watson (3 miles north of Santee on US 301) is a great place to get a panoramic view of Santee-Cooper and the countryside.

Getting around is pretty simple. I-95 runs north-south and exits 102, 98, 97, and 93 will get you to Santee. Exit 98, however is the main one. The lakes are located both east and west of I-95.

There are so many choices between ritzy hotels and comfy little cottages, I wouldn’t know where to begin, you have many many options almost unlimited, so it is all in the mind of the beholder as to where he or she would like to stay.

The best place I have found to eat would be The Conch Cafe or Kyoto’s. There are so many restaurants to choose from though…

Surfside Strip and the Pavilion. They are the hot spots for daytime and by night it is all a matter of opinion.

Well the best mode of transportation would be your car but if you were on the strip might i suggest you walk cause it is going to be Packeddddd….

Hardeeville is a small southern town with the distinction of being at a major travel crossroads… I-95 and US 17. More than just another of the hundreds of nondescript exits, Hardeeville is home to nearly 1200 motel rooms and dozens of restaurants. It’s also a central location when visiting Carolina’s “Low Country”. Recently announced plans for major development including a $40 million complex that will include a Disney Travel Center, add to Hardeeville’s reputation as a great place to visit!

As one of the major I-95 interchanges, exit 5 is literally a lodging paradise! Here is only a partial list of the motels here: Budget Inn, Carolina Inn Express, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Economy Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Magnolia Motel, Masters Inn, Red Carpet Inn, and Super 8. If you’re an RV’er, there’s camping nearby too! The Gateway Campground is easy to get to from I-95 exit 8.

If seafood is your weakness, try Cap’n Bill’s. For great steaks check out Gene’s at the Budget Inn. I-95, Exit 5 also has dozens of fast foods too! Burger King, Denny’s, KFC, McDonald’s, Shoney’s, Subway, Wendy’s and the Waffle House are just a few. I personally recommend Shoney’s… they have reasonably priced meals and something for everyone!

There are a number of excellent golf courses nearby including Whispering Pines. Shopping is also plentiful here. Bargain hunt at the Hardeeville Factory Outlet Mall, located right at the exit. There’s also a tourist info center here too!

Everythings right at exit 5… both east and west. What could be easier? Exit 8, just 3 miles north on I-95 is expected to grow commercially as well.
